Portsmouth Could See 4-8 Inches
Meteorologists are forecasting up to 8 inches of snowfall for the area in the slow-moving snowstorm that will last through Friday.
Sping might be just around the corner, but winter is packing one final punch this week with another snowstorm. This time meteorologists predict Portsmouth could see 4-8 inches of snowfall.
Southern New England will be most impacted by the heavy wet snows expected from the slow-moving coastal storm that will pass through the area beginning tonight and lasting through Friday, according to a winter storm watch advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Taunton, MA.
NWS officials are warning residents to prepare now for the storm. Due to the wet and heavy nature of the snow, travel may become difficult, particularly late Thursday into Friday morning. Strong winds combined with snow accumulations could also result in power outages. Wind gusts could hit 50 mph over the next several days.
"Now is the time to prepare for the storm," states the NWS advisory. "Stay informed of the latest forecasts. Those planning travel should be prepared to modify plans to avoid traveling during the height of the storm."
Ice melt, snow shovels and other storm necessities can all be purchased locally at the new Ace Hardware on East Main Road.
