Buried in the bottom of a vacation week announcement from the school. Loosing Dr. McEwen is a huge loss for the schools and comes after Colleen Germain left earlier this year. Rumor is others are leaving and stars are retiring... what is up with our schools? When the School Committee had their secret tête à têtes this Fall the word was this was going to happen. This School Committee and the new Superintendent seem reckless in their desire for change. I fear this is just the beginning! Is anyone else fearful? angry? worried? I sure as hell am!

I am so happy for Lori, but at the same time very sorry to see her leave. When I was on the hiring committee, I made the statement, "Lori will make me a better assistant principal", and nothing could be more true. She has taught me a great deal regarding Teaching & Learning and how to help improve the level of teaching at the high school. Her knowledge and experience will be greatly missed and our loss is The Blackstone Charter School's gain. Good luck "Doc."

I wish her nothing but the best in her new venture. I never felt she was an appropriate match for Portsmouth high. She is a much better candidate for the Mayoral Academies system. I hope the new asst. principal will be someone with the high energy level and expectations of Dr. McEwen, but with a more compassionate approach.
