Police Investigating Wave of House Break-ins

At least four daytime house breaks have been reported to police in the past two days.

 

Portsmouth police are investigating four house break-ins that occurred within the past two days. 

Since Tuesday, approximately four house break-ins have been reported. The break-ins all occurred during daytime hours. 

Break-ins have been reported at residences on Dexter Street, Harrington Avenue, East Main Road (north end) and Boyd's Lane. 

The alleged thief or thieves entered a couple of the houses through unlocked doors, as well as removed window screens and forced entry in come cases. 

Electronics, cash and jewelry have been reported stolen. 

Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity to police at (401) 683-0300.

Dark hair, thin, about 5' 10" guy walking up and down Schoolhouse Lane, Gilda's Lane and the top of Middle Road - a few days in a row - smoking and walking and checking out houses. I think this area will be next if he isn't caught. We alerted the police, but I haven't seen them come by - hope they are listening to us!

Just so people know its not a crime to walk on back roads and smoke cigarettes. I do believe there is a saying we learned many years ago in school... Something about books, covers and judging...
