My son has Aspergers and goes to Aquidneck Island Day Camp in Middletown. It is run by Looking Upwards. It is the most reasonable camp around. He gets academics in the morning and fun activities in the afternoons with the structure and supervision he needs. It is a great camp for all ages and ranges of children.

The United Congregational Church Summer Day Camp is open to ALL children. It's an ecumenical camp that runs from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. to accommodate working parents. We're in our 16th year and this year is our yth Puppet Camp. This year, old fashioned sock puppets. The kids create their puppets the first week and write, produce, and perform a puppet show the second week. Very popular! We've done marionettes, rod-and-stick puppets, muppet puppets, Cambodian water puppets, shadow puppets, Wayang kulit puppets just to name a few. Just $150 includes all snacks, supplies, T-shirts, outdoor activities, a water day, and so much more. For information, contact Megan Weymouth at 846 3515.

If you are looking for academic enrichment and summer fun, Portsmouth Abbey runs a Summer Program from June 26-July 23 for rising 7th through 10th graders.

Beyond traditional courses that emphasize reading, writing and public speaking, students may participate in our hands-on enrichment activities including Environmental and Marine Sciences and Landscape Painting. Whether in seminars, exploring marine environments, or trying new painting techniques, students will explore subjects with instructors who are passionate about what they do and who will share that enthusiasm with your child.

Courses include Literature, Creative Writing, Public Speaking, Economics, Film & Culture, Algebra, 2-D Design, Latin for English and more. Sail a boat in Newport…visit Rhode Island’s world-class beaches…walk the historic Freedom Trail in Boston…meet students from around the world…feast on a real New England clambake on Martha’s Vineyard…and ride the roller coaster at Six Flags…all while discovering the joy of learning in the classroom and through enrichment activities. Visit: http://www.portsmouthabbey.org/page/summerprogram

Great! I saw this camp, but ran out of spots in the column to list it. I'm so happy that you did, thank you!

Both the Aquidneck Island Day Camp in Middletown and the Portsmouth Action for Youth camps sound great. I can't decide. I need a full day camp for the whole summer. I have a 10 and 12 year old.
