North Providence Man Allegedly Steals Bronze Boat Struts From Yacht Company
The following arrest information was supplied by the Portsmouth Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A North Providence man was arrested yesterday after allegedly stealing five bronze boat struts, weighing 70 lbs. each, from a Portsmouth yatch company.
Nicholas Martinez, 19, was arrested at his home and charged with larceny of marine equipment, a felony.
Martinez, a former employee of the McMillen Yacht Co., allegedly removed five bronz boat struts, weighing 70 lbs. each, from the company on Jan. 18.
Martinez apparently intended to scrap the bronze material for cash, according to police.
Police obtained an affidavit arrest warrant for the former McMillen employee.
North Providence police arrested him at his home Wednesday and turned him over to the custody of Portsmouth police. He was later arraigned in district court.
