Those pesky mosquitoes seem to be everywhere this summer and even more of a serious threat after the first confirmed EEE case in nearby Massachusetts.
We already know there's an increase in mosquitoes in the northern section of town, but where else have you seen these biting bugs?

Thanks. We'll email you the next time we update this story.

don't forget to call the state highway dept!!! the pipe under boyd's lane that connects the two marshes is blocked!!!! the west side marsh cannot drain during low/high tide changes and they breed there. there has to be a tidal flow to disrupt the larvae or else they will continue to breed. the type of mosquitoes out there right now is a salt water one. tell the state to check at next low tide. the marsh on the east will be empty and the one on the west side will still be full. this won't get rid of them but will help. (BTW, no excuse for the pipe to be blocked. I have notified them many times.....I think they need more calls! It is a public health issue.)

Off Boyds. Most of the areas above are all in that area. I think we should start where the kids are the most ie. High School for football etc. They are not bad at the Glen/Seveny area, it seems to be this end of town.

Peace St/Oak St/Highland Ave in Island Park is horrible. We have to spray yard guard from the porch to the street just to get into the car! It's a daily dose of DEET for the rest of the summer...

Why is there any debate on location? Spray, spray, and spray. The adults, children, and pets are being exposed to a serious threat of mosquitos that are probably carriers of the EEE virus. Why take a chance with a fatality when we can prevent it with spaying. Island Park and all the streets off of Park Avenue are infested get out there and help stop this dangerous exposure to a preventable situation.

I have a mosquito magnet and have been spraying but still can't walk outside to the car without getting attacked. They are horrible this year. I am on Bristol Ferry, near Boyd's Lane. Please please please spray - EEE is already in Tiverton and I am guessing it is hiding already somewhere in Portsmouth. Many of the surrounding communities have started to spray to protect its residents. I hope that the officials in Portsmouth don't wait until it is too late to do the right thing.
