While some businesses in Portsmouth have been around for "as long as you can remember," some have closed their doors, either due to poor economic times or simply moving to a new location.

The owner of The Groovy Gator, a children's boutique located in the Clock Tower Square plaza, closed its Portsmouth shop months ago. The Groovy Gator still operates out of its Newport location on Thames Street.
