While some businesses in Portsmouth have been around for "as long as you can remember," some have closed their doors or simply moved to a new location.
The former Shell Gas Station on East Main Road, next to The Portsmouth Shop, was partially demolished this past September.
While the tanks were removed from the site, the white gas station building still remains vacant.
We want to know what businesses you think would thrive in that location. What type of business would you like to inhabit this empty storefront?

I like the Starbucks suggestion. Probably won't happen with Clement's Market so close at hand though.

I had suggested a quilt shop, which realistically won't happen. BUT - I LOVE the idea of a Starbucks.

A Visitor's Center-smaller than the Gateway but has room for RIPTA and the Boston Bus to stop. Add a nice coffee/sandwich place to pick up box lunches. Let's share Portsmouth with everyone and create something we do not have.

A bakery. There are not really good bakeries in the area. I know Clements has fresh breads, etc, but there is nothing like a good Bakery to have pastry... like Leddys in Fall River.
