Cranston's Olivia Culpo Crowned Miss Universe
Cranston — and the rest of the USA — is rooting for hometown girl Olivia Culpo, who is competing for the Miss Universe title tonight.
Cranston's own Olivia Culpo has another crown to put next to her Miss USA crown — Miss Universe.
Culpo, who won the Miss USA title in June, is a Cranston native.
Culpo was wearing a Sherri Hill dress and shoes from Chinese Laundry when she was named a top 16 finalist.
In an interview during the show, Culpo said one thing people might not know about her is "I'm really easy going."
"Any joke — I'll get it. A lot of time, people think of beauty queens almost being plastic. I can take jokes. I can take anything," she said.
In the evening gown competition, Culpo wore a long, red flowing dress with revealing cleavage. Host Guliana Rancic said she was "certainly a mermaid," and "looks like a jewel."
She had a little stumble, but regained her footing. "A true mark of a queen," Rancic said.
In the interview portion of the competition, Culpo was asked: what is something you have done that you'd never do again?
Her answer: picking on my siblings growing up.

So proud! Apparently in the finals it was a very close competition among a group of earthlings. No other planet was even close.

Great job, finally something to be proud of in Rhody. After election day I didn't think there was any hope for the Ocean State.
