Become a Literacy Volunteer To Adults in Need
Literacy Volunteers of East Bay is looking for volunteers to help tutor adult learners.
Literacy Volunteers of East Bay is in need of volunteer tutors who would like to make a difference in the life of an adullt learner.
Please call our training coordinator, Eleanor Fuller, at 401-247-2177 to find out how you can become a tutor.
Literacy Volunteers provides free 1-1 tutoring or small group instruction to area adults helping them with reading, writing, math and/or English speaking skills. In addition we offer support for students enrolled in Pre-GED or GED programs.
Our tutors attend an 8 hour interactive training session to learn tutoring techniques and best practices for working with adult learners. Upon completion of the training, tutors are matched with a student. Together they determine a mutually convenient time and place to meet for 2 hours per week. Our coordinators provide ongoing support to both students and tutors.
Please call to discover how helping an adult student reach his/her goals can be a truly rewarding experience.
