Water Main Work to Take Place Tuesday on Boyd's Lane
Motorists are advised that on Tuesday, Sept. 14, the Portsmouth Water and Fire District will perform water main work at the intersection of Boyd Lane and Route 24, Exit 2 off ramp at Roger Williams University.
The work will occur in the north bound lane of Boyd Lane. This work is expected to take one work day.
Starting at 7 a.m., the traffic on Boyd's Lane will be shifted into two narrow north and south bound lanes.
Traffic on the Route 24 Exit 2 off ramp will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with Boyd Lane. This single lane on the off ramp will be in the lane normally reserved for north-turning (right-turning) vehicles, but vehicles will be allowed to turn either north or south onto Boyd's Lane.
Motorists are advised that construction vehicles may be entering and leaving the work area. It is expected that traffic will be slowed and occasionally backed-up during this time period, particularly during commuting hours.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes to avoid likely delays.
