The water pressure dropped in areas of Middletown below acceptable limits due to the water main break on West Main Road in Portsmouth and the likelihood for bacteria contamination exists. As a precaution because of the pressure drop, Newport Water is issuing a precautionary boil water advisory for Middletown water customers. Newport Water recommends that water being used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, cooking or bathing of infants should be boiled for one minute and allowed to cool before using.
