VFW To Show Free Documentary on U.S. Soldiers in Afghanistan
Description:
RESTREPO is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley. Considered one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military, the movie focuses on a remote 15-man outpost named after a platoon medic who was KIA. The cameras never leave the valley; there are no interviews with generals or diplomats. Viewers may feel as if they have just been through a 90 minute deployment.
The movie will be shown Friday 17 Feb 2012 at the VFW Post 5390 at 822 Anthony Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the movie at 7:30 p.m.
Attendants are asked to provide a free-will donation. Proceeds will help issue a Service Assistance Dog to Sgt. Brendan O'Byrne who served 15 months @ RESTREPO.
3 copies of WAR signed by author Sebastian Junger and Sgt. Brendan O’Byrne will be raffled off at the conclusion of the film.
If unable to attend and want to donate visit www.usabattlebuddies.org/EVENTS.html to do so.
