Portsmouth Residents Can Drop Off Items Locally for Hurricane Sandy Victims

In response to the devastation left in Hurricane Sandy’s path, a group of Aquidneck Island residents have organized “SOS STATEN ISLAND,” an island-wide
drive for the next two weeks, until Sunday, November 18, 2012, to collect clothing and other much-needed household items at convenient drop-off locations.

Drop-off locations in Portsmouth are located at the Portsmouth Fire Department (24 hours) and the Portsmouth Public Library, or visit the website for Middletown and Newport drop-off sites (which include the fire departments and libraries, or see listings at www.Facebook.com/SOSStatenIsland.RI.

Donations requested are: Clothes (New or Like New), including jackets, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, socks,
sweatpants and sweatshirts, underwear, thermals, Blankets, Sheets, Towels, Baby Clothing (Infant & Toddler), Formula, Diapers, Wipes, Bottles, Pacifiers, Pet
Food & Supplies such as canned and dry food, leashes, litter, litter pans and scoops, bedding, treats, Canned Goods, Shelf Food, Bottled Water, Juice, BoxesToiletries
such as Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Hairbrushes, Razors (in clear zip-lock bags), Suitcases, Heavy-Duty Garbage Bags, Large Containers to package donations, Cleaning Products such as mops, paper towels, sponges, cleaners, and toilet paper.
