The Portsmouth Middle School Patriots Softball Team won their home opener, thanks to the stellar pitching of Ailish Cafferty, who held the Middletown Islanders to only 5 runs. Taylor Cofield and Jocelyn Varieur each hit base-clearing homeruns, which added to the Patriots' 12 total runs. Mary Rose Hobbins and Maddie Hobbs let nothing drop in the outfield. The girls' next game is Wednesday at Kickemuit.
